The roads were covered in gray slush and traffic was crawling on the expressway as snow continued to gently fall. We were heading home from a day of sledding and sipping hot cocoa with out of state friends. I looked over to the other side of the interstate and noticed the traffic was almost at a standstill. Maybe there is an accident up ahead? And then I realized it was three large snowplows driving slowly side by side to plow and salt the roads and make it safe for the vehicles behind them.
“Arianna, Ashton, look at those snow plows! They are driving together to clear a path for everyone. . .you know God does the same thing for us. He goes ahead of us and He makes the way smooth and safe.”
A little time passed and it happened again. “Look more plows doing the same thing on that side of the road! I wonder if they are plowing like that on this side of the road, and we just can’t see them up ahead?”
“Mom, I am sure they are,” Arianna chimed in. “They are probably saying the same thing from the other side of the road, ‘Look at those plows!’ You know it’s always easier to see what God is doing in other people’s lives than it is in your own.”
“You are so right! We have to keep moving forward by faith and believe He is there guiding us and preparing the way. And it is a comfort to know He is working behind the scenes on our behalf even when we do not see it. . .” We drifted off into our thoughts as we continued our trek down the snowy lane. I sat there amazed at how God speaks to us in so many creative ways.
My prayer for you this holiday season and into the new year is that God would clear the path before you and make all of your crooked places straight. I pray that you have faith to move forward and you enter into new areas of influence and see greater victory and blessing in 2018!
Isaiah 42:16 I will lead blind Israel down a new path, guiding them along an unfamiliar way. I will make the darkness bright before them and smooth out the road ahead of them. Yes, I will indeed do these things; I will not forsake them.
