We Are Whole In Him

We received a call from Ashton’s (our 7 year old son) Endocrinologist about a week ago. She said to me, “Amy, it’s just as we suspected. Ashton does have Noonan’s Syndrome. He has the more common/mild form and so that is good news. He does not have enlarged heart walls and so growth hormone will be safe and the necessary next step.”

Well, we got our long awaited answer and clarity regarding all of Ashton’s health issues from birth. Everything that he has been through and is going through are characteristics of the syndrome. And now we can move forward with treatment. We are encouraged as the Endocrinologist told us last fall that she has treated many Noonan’s patients and they grew up to normal heights, go off to college and lead normal lives.

It is a lot to take in and process and as I have been talking through these things with Eric and others and praying and asking God for perspective on Ashton He has brought me to the passage in Psalm 139:13-18. . .

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb.

Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!

Your workmanship is marvelous - and how well I know it.

You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,

as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.

You saw me before I was born.

Every day of my life was recorded in your book.

Every moment was laid out

before a single day had passed.

How precious are your thoughts about me, O God!

They are innumerable!

I can’t even count them;

they outnumber the grains of sand!

And when I wake up in the morning,

you are still with me!

When I think of how God sees Ashton and how He sees each one of us, I believe He sees us WHOLE. In Him we are. . .

W= Wonderfully Made

H= Holy

O= Overcomers

L= Loved

E= Equipped

As my friend Jessica said to me, “Ashton is perfect in His sight.” I believe that when God looks at each one of us through the cross of Jesus Christ He sees us whole and that each one of us is perfect in His sight. I’m praying that you are encouraged today as you see yourself from God’s perspective and that you can rest assured that everything you are facing today and in life has passed through His hands of love and grace.

I’m praying that you and your loved ones accomplish significant things in 2017! May it be your best year yet. And thank you for keeping Ashton and our family in your prayers too.
